On September 11, 2023, former Tecumseh Public Schools employee Megan McLemore, fired weeks after relaying her allegations to school officials, gave a public comment during the regular school board meeting regarding the alleged behavior and actions of former Tecumseh High School principal Dennis Niles.

She said, in part:

“Two weeks prior to that day, I sat in a formal meeting with HR Director Daniel and assistant to the superintendent Veronica to formally report High School Principal Dennis Niles for his inappropriate behavior towards students after months of members of the class of 2023 confiding in me about his inappropriate comments, touching and the final straw being in his inappropriate picture taking of the girls soccer team changing underneath the press box at the soccer fields prior to their spring district game that year.”

It’s unclear if Tecumseh Public Schools relayed McLemore’s precise details about Niles’ alleged behavior to police. There’s no mention of the time and place of the soccer team’s spring district game in the police report or in the email sent to police four days after the school issued a press release saying, “the Tecumseh Police Department has conducted their [sic] investigation and determined there was no criminal activity and therefore are not handling the investigation at this point,” which The Daily Telegram reported occurred before the department could complete its investigation.
