About Me

Hello, I’m Anthony Alaniz, a Metro Detroit-based automotive journalist and writer. I have a career spanning more than 15 years in professional writing, which includes blogs, automotive and government news, investigative journalism, and columns.

I’ve written about the automotive industry for most of my career for various outlets—Car and Driver, Autoweek, Popular Mechanics, and many others. I started my first website in 2009, covering the auto industry before getting my first paid writing gig at High Gear Media and writing for its collection of automotive websites like CarConnection.com. Other publications in which my writing has appeared include local publications such as The Daily Telegram and The Tecumseh Herald.

I’m a staff writer for an online automotive publication covering automotive news, reviewing cars, and interviewing company executives, engineers, and designers. I also have a newsletter that discusses the intersection of politics, technology, society, and history.

I won third place in News Enterprise Reporting and earned an honorable mention in the Feature Story category in the 2015 Michigan Press Association Better Newspaper Contest.

In my free time, I enjoy my spending time with my family, writing fiction, reading, and filing FOIA requests.
